It displaced how and where we work, how we shop, what we shop for, how we learn and even where we live.
Many of these shifts are permanent and others temporary. However, one thing is for sure.
Consumer Behaviour has changed forever.
An example of this is when millions of people were forced to turn intimate places into a working environment. Kitchen tables and spare rooms were turned into new workspaces, and guess what…
We liked it!
In fact, the numbers stack up and support our love for working from home. In a recent survey, it was reported that you can save between $2500 – $4000 per year by working at home just 50% of the time.
And over 80% want to stay working from home!
With organisations like Twitter, Square, Adobe and 1000’s more embracing remote working solutions, this trend is here to stay.
These changes do bring challenges to how you advertise though.
If fewer people are going to shopping malls or commuting to work on trains or buses then they will not see your adverts on the daily commutes.
Businesses need to adapt to the routines and behaviours with fresh ideas. You need to be looking at your customers and asking the question of what behaviour has changed and how do I pivot?
What does this mean for you?
I think for SME businesses this is a fantastic opportunity now to embrace and take advantage of these changes to help your business expand quickly.
For the first time, you have a global talent pool at your fingertips that are wanting working and grateful for the opportunity to be employed. It’s very much an employers market now.
On top of this, with the changes in Behaviour, if you know what’s changed and what strategies are working today then your marketing spend is reduced while reaching more people.
This in turn allows you to expand faster, have a higher return on investment (ROI) and thrive instead of being one of the stats that failed due to Covid.
